It’s Not a Cure All, Folks
I am always thoroughly impressed with the quality of content coming out of CIO Insight magazine — if only I didn’t have to fill out those bogus online forms every 3 months just to get my free copy. But I digress…
Debra D’Agostino’s article "PLM: The Means of Production" makes a great point — PLM, as in the early days of ERP, means different things to different people. But I think even her interpretation falls short. For example, she says "hosted systems are emerging for smaller companies that can’t make a large investment in PLM," which implies PLM solutions are purely about the technology.
PLM is more about process than technology — the technology is an enabler. But an interesting read with some good points.
