After 13 months in the enterprise hosted SharePoint space, I have decided to move on to a new group and new role in a rapidly expanding part of the company -- digital advertising. I just accepted a Support Manager position with the AdCenter API team, starting May 2nd.
Digital advertising is a space that Microsoft must succeed in, no doubt about it. That means it's a high priority for the company, it has high visibility, and it is a well-funded organization. All good things. Plus, the opportunity to know Microsoft's AdCenter platform from top to bottom, and to help shape the programs around it, were very appealing to me. Additionally, it's a very dynamic and energetic team with solid upper management.
As for the role itself, I'll manage a Tier 2 technical support team that works hands-on with our current pilot customers, and I'll work closely with the AdCenter development, marketing, and planning teams to design and expand the services around our platform. For example, scalability requires a strong self-service API model, through which the majority of API customers/partners will come. I view the role as equal parts operations support and planning, which meshes well with my experience.
I've enjoyed my time with MMS and will miss working with the team, but I look forward to the new adventure.
