The Road to SharePoint Conference North America

In case you missed the 1,000 tweets sent out today from many of the confirmed speakers, the social campaign surrounding the SharePoint Conference North America (www.SharePointNA.com) has officially begun! As part of that promotion, I am working with the organizing team and Microsoft to promote through two video series: the “Road to @SPConf” is a weekly series where the product team, organizing committee, and special guests will share details on what to expect when you get to Las Vegas this May — and, of course, to encourage people to register for the event. There will also be a “Speaker Spotlight” series launching next week, where confirmed speakers will share their session details, and tell you why they’re excited to attend (aside from speaking, of course).

The first “Road to @SPConf” video was published this morning on YouTube, and includes Microsoft’s Jeff Teper (@jeffteper), Aaron Rimmer (@aaronlrimmer), and Bill Baer (@williambaer) joining me on camera to share their excitement for the upcoming conference, and talk a little bit about how it came about due to the overwhelming requests from the community. Check it out:

In addition to helping promote the event, I’m also excited to once again be included as a presenter — and talking on two topics that I am very passionate about. The first is a session called How to Better Leverage SharePoint Through Microsoft Teams” which came about after numerous customer and community questions (and concerns) about how to balance existing SharePoint investments with growing excitement around Microsoft Teams. I’ll talk about the common use cases, and then jump into demos and case studies on how the two are better together.

My second session is somewhat related, as I’ll talk about SharePoint and Microsoft Teams, as well as Yammer, Outlook/Exchange, and beyond in a session entitled “Navigating the Inner and Outer Loops: Effective Office 365 Communications.” I’ve long been an advocate for careful consideration of cultural nuances and team dynamics in collaboration, and in this session I plan to explore some of these nuances and how the various workloads within Office 365 can best support the ever-changing needs of your peers and employees.

In the run up to @SPConf, I’ll be sharing content (articles, videos, research) through social channels and this website around my session topics, so make sure we’re connected. If you have not yet registered for the event, what are you waiting for? It’s going to be an amazing event! As I stated in the video above, I am still talking almost daily with people that I met at the SharePoint Conference in 2009 in Las Vegas — there will be great content and entertainment, you’ll be able to rub elbows with Microsoft leadership and get answers from the people who build the products….. but the real value of attending in-person are the connections you’ll make. If you own any aspect of SharePoint for your organization, this is THE event to attend in 2018. And if you use ‘BUCKLEY’ when you register, you’ll save a few bucks.

See you in Vegas!
