Community Feedback on Organizing Events

We held another great community discussion this morning as part of the monthly #CollabTalk TweetJam, this time focusing on the topic of “Best Practices for Organizing Community Events.” You can read more about the event and panel on the blog post. As always, we had a fantastic panel of MVPs, RDs, and community experts officially join our panel and seed the online discussion via Twitter and the #CollabTalk hashtag, with a number of community members joining in on the discussion, liking and retweeting panel comments, and, as always, lurking in the wings. Although these Twitter-based discussions fly by at a furious pace, I love these community interactions because it is a drinking-from-the-fire-hose method of checking the pulse of the community on any topic.

As a follow up to today’s tweetjam, I was able to get some time with Collaboris and Collab365.community founder Mark Jones (@markqjones), who some of you may know through his SP24 event a few years back (online event that ran continuous sessions for 24 hours) and the new quarterly GlobalCon events. Mark and I jumped on a web meeting and captured our thoughts, which you can watch on the CollabTalk YouTube channel below:

 

Additionally, I posted the audio recording to the CollabTalk Podcast, which you can find on Soundcloud, as well as Spotify, Apple Podcast, Google, Stitcher, and other podcast locations.

Speaking of stats, as you can see below, the final tally for today’s event was 262 tweets, with 1.61 million impressions, and over 112k people reached in our 1-hour community discussion.

It’s great to see so many familiar faces on these tweetjams, as well as a handful of new faces. Today’s event was light on the use of extra hashtags (beyond the use of #CollabTalk), but it was great to see some of our tweetjam regulars, several community-centered folks from Microsoft, and a handful of new faces participating in the discussion.

The final image I’ll share shows the global reach of these tweetjams. While the 9am Pacific start time is a bit too early for APAC, we did get a couple people checking in from India and eastern Europe, which is always great to see.
