Microsoft Community Office Hours, Episode 10

In our tenth episode of Microsoft Community Office Hours earlier today, we had some difficulty streaming in the evening, and so this capture is of our morning session (EMEA), following the same ask-me-anything (AMA) format. The AMA allows us to connect with each other and also help anyone in the community with questions about Microsoft products and services. Hopefully next week we’ll be back to our normal form with events at 8am and 6pm Pacific (GMT-7) in an effort to reach folks in Europe and Africa (EMEA) in the earlier session, and across Asia Pacific (APAC) in the later session….and, of course, across the Americas with both times. These sessions are being live streamed to the Office 365 Community page in Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/Office365Community/

In this tenth episode, I was joined by Sean McDonough, MVP (@spmcdonough), and Hal Hostetler, MVP (@TVWizard). Topics covered this week included:

  • Sean backs a kickstarter effort around a podcasting kit [2:38]
  • In Microsoft Teams, how do I assign access to a person to just one channel and not the entire team? [4:21]
  • What’s the difference between a ToDo list and Planner? [8:11]
  • With the announcement of Microsoft Lists, more people will ask “Which tool, and when?!” [10:23]
  • Hal logs a bug with Search tied to one Outlook.com account [12:36]
  • Sean complains about permissions and sync problems with a shared calendar [13:33]
  • Sean and Christian share the Microsoft people they flog the most [18:19]
  • The Microsoft Lists App is the new kid on the block  [20:34]
  • Sean likes Christian’s Joy Division / Mordor t-shirt [27:36]
  • Is Teams appropriate for interacting with customers outside of your organization? [32:38]
  • Why Teams requires a cultural change for many orgs [40:23]
  • How do you live stream Teams to YouTube and Facebook? [44:44]
  • Is OneDrive appropriate to use for granular backups? [52:34]

Or, you can watch the entire recording here:

If you would like to join one of these sessions as a panelist or to ask questions, you can find us live streaming on Facebook at 8am and 6pm Pacific every Monday during this quarantine period throughout May, possibly into June.
