Microsoft Community Office Hours, Episode 58

For our 58th episode this week of the Microsoft Community Office Hours series, I was joined by Tracy van der Schyff, MVP (@tracyvds), Hal Hostetler, MVP (@TVWizard), Mike Nelson, MVP (@mikenelsonio), Mark Rackley, MVP (@mrackley), and Microsoft’s Neil Hodgkinson (@nellymo) for another panel discussion shared via live stream in the M365 Community on Facebook, and simulcast on Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

Once again, Sean McDonough, MVP (@spmcdonough) is temporarily dead to us for missing today’s show. Hopefully he’ll be back with us for next week’s show.

In this episode, we covered the following topics:

  • The official show disclaimer before we get started [3:24]
  • Christian tries to trick Tracy into sharing something with the world that she doesn’t want to share [3:42]
  • Christian then shares a story about how he has caused mental angst (wrapped in love) with his children [4:30]
  • Mike kicks off Microsoft Message Center…just as Mark joins the panel [7:06]
  • Presenting in Teams via PowerPoint Live has a long list of pre-requisites  [8:21]
  • Public preview of tools to migrate from Google Workspace to M365 [12:25]
  • All Whiteboard storage is now in OneDrive for Business by default [16:13]
  • You can now access/sync Office files via your mobile device (and eat up all of your phone storage) [18:41]
  • Mike discovers Config.Microsoft.com [20:37]
  • I’m able to record a PowerPoint presentation on Microsoft Teams but my video isn’t getting recorded simultaneously [28:25]
  • Why is it that I can add guests to my Team/Channel in Teams, but to communicate/chat they need to switch organizations? [32:08]
  • On the topic of tenant-switching on Teams, has anyone tried using a mobile emulator on the desktop? [35:05]
  • Do you have to be using the same email address login to Teams as the email an invite was sent to?  [39:57]
  • Can you setup Teams breakout rooms before a meeting starts? [42:54]
  • How can I get a link to SharePoint List’s form that can be shared with public?  [44:23]
  • What is the process to migrate my PST file into Exchange Online without using 3rd party tools? [49:39]
  • What is the best way to notify me when people complete a task before inviting them to participate in a training session running in Teams? [52:51]
  • Why do I see a white screen when I log into Microsoft Teams?  [57:34]
  • How do you restart/bounce your Azure components/clusters/VMs? [59:35]
  • Is it possible to embed an HTML5 preview file on modern SharePoint? Link and link. [1:01:42]
  • How do I upload data from a URL to a Blob Storage location?  [1:08:12]
  • How can I automatically send an image taken with a camera control in PowerApps to the attachment field of Approvals through Power Automate? Christian will take as homework, but Neil provided this video link [1:11:43]
  • My non-profit company is using Microsoft Teams and needs to set up 2 different departments on 2 additional tenants. Can all three be managed by one admin? [1:14:08]
  • Why is it that a lookup column can be edited in SharePoint list’s form, but cannot be edited in the SharePoint mobile app? Link and link [1:22:41]
  • We’re creating a “discussion forum” team with channels for employees to discuss specific applications (i.e., Teams, OneDrive, etc.). Has anyone set up a discussion forum in Teams for their org and have advice on how to set it up for success? Also, our org does not have Yammer. [1:23:49]
